Lusail City, Qatar · 2013 - 2017 · Public Works Authority (Ashghal)

Major infrastructure package forming part of Lusail City development north of Doha. Included a 0.6 km underpass tunnel, 1.4 km approach troughs, underground car parks on east and west sides, and primary structural elements for a combined LRT station. Support of excavation systems extended approximately 30 m deep adjacent to an existing sea wall.

Scope of work

  • Slope stability design for 6 million m3 excavation
  • Geotechnical supervision as independent third party
  • Design and implementation of geotechnical monitoring system
  • Inspection of cut slopes and design of remediation measures
  • Daily geotechnical inspection

Dukhan Highway Central

Doha, Qatar · 2013 - 2017 · Public Works Authority (Ashghal) - Expressway Programme

1.5 km tunnel and 2.2 km extension of Al Rufaa Street, forming part of Ashghal's Expressway Programme. The tunnel comprised 34 structural units with mechanical and electrical equipment including a central 24-hour control room. Approximately 450,000 m3 of material was excavated; 125,000 m3 of concrete and 10,000 tonnes of asphalt were used.
